Ethiopian woman involved in illegal calls business caught

KUWAIT CITY, Oct 16: Officers from Farwaniya Security Directorate arrested an Asian expatriate for violating residency law, with an Ethiopian lady involved in illegal international call trade in Khaitan area. Security sources stated the Asian was arrested after trying in vain to evade the police who asked for his identification papers. They explained that the suspect kept running and entered a shop owned by an Ethiopian lady. The officers chased him to the shop and discovered that the Ethiopian was involved in illegal international call trade and she was running away from the sponsor. The officers confiscated several phones from the shop, and referred the suspect to concerned authorities.

Cop threatened: Police are looking for three former criminals for smuggling alcohol into the country and threatening a policeman of the Rabiya Police Station, reports Al-Shahed daily. The men have reportedly threatened to kill the policeman and his toddler daughter via a text message. The policeman had earlier arrested one of the members of the gang for possessing alcohol and he was referred to the relevant authorities.

Maid caught red-handed: A Kuwaiti woman has handed over her maid to the police after catching her red-handed attempting to escape with jewelry worth KD 3,000, reports Al-Anba daily. The security sources quoting the female sponsor said when she returned home unannounced, she found the maid in the doorway with a bag in hand and the stolen jewelry.

Motorist hurt: A motorist sustained injuries in different parts of the body when his vehicle went up in flames after it toppled at the intersection between Shuwaikh residential area and Shamiya. Meanwhile, two people were trapped inside a vehicle with various degrees of injuries in a two-vehicle collision on Coastal Road opposite Mangaf area. Firemen went to the scene and dealt with the situation, and the victims were referred to Adan Hospital for treatment.

Clash at hospital: The followers of three youths who were injured in a fight at Saad Al-Abdullah area instigated a clash during their treatment in Jahra Hospital. Initial investigation revealed that a group of seven youths fought in Saad Al- Abdullah area and the injured ones were taken to Jahra Hospital in private cars for treatment. However, the fight continued inside the hospital until rescue officers came to separate them. The hospital’s administration is said to have notified Jahra Security Directorate about the incident.

Traffic disrupted: An iron bridge fell on a heavy duty vehicle carrying another truck on King Fahad Expressway and brought traffic to a standstill, reports Al-Seyassah daily. Acting on information, firemen went to the location and removed the iron bridge, and traffic was restored. General Fire Service Department appealed to heavy duty truckers and owners of transportation companies to abide by traffic regulations relating to the standard height of vehicles to ensure their own safety and that of other road users.
