CAIRO, Feb 21, (KUNA): On the eve of the Kuwaiti embassy’s celebrations of the 58th National Day and 28th Liberation Anniversary, an Egyptian top lawmaker in Cairo shared the joy of the national festivities, commending the exemplary and unique bilateral relations between Kuwait and Egypt.

This came in a statement by the Speaker of the Egyptian House of Representative Dr Ali Abdel Aal during celebrations held in the Kuwaiti embassy by Ambassador to Egypt Mohammad Al-Thuwaikh.

Dr Abdel Aal affirmed the deep-rooted relations and solid ties between the State of Kuwait and the Arab Republic of Egypt under the leaderships of His Highness the Amir of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi.

Dr Abdel Aal stressed that the State of Kuwait was “dear” to the Egyptian leadership and people due to the long history of solidarity and shared stances on issues of Arab, regional and international importance.

He commended the Kuwaiti supportive stance in regards to the “June 30th revolution”, adding that history also had shown the shared sacrifice by Egyptian and Kuwaiti troops in the 1973 War and the Egyptian army’s positive role in the liberation of Kuwait in 1991 from the Iraqi invasion of August 1990.

The top lawmaker took the chance to express his best wishes of welfare and security towards the Kuwaiti leadership and people.

On his part, Kuwaiti Ambassador to Egypt Mohammad Al-Thuwaikh said that the advent of the national celebrations in Kuwait, observed on February 25-26, was dear to Kuwaitis and expatriates alike.

He affirmed that the march of the Kuwaiti people towards greatness and success will continue in line with the desires and guidance of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.

The Ambassador indicated that Kuwait, since independence, focused on highlighting issues of Arab importance, championing any cause that would further advance the Arab and Muslim agendas for welfare, security, and development.

The Kuwaiti people continued after the liberation to contribute to the region and the world and that is clearly evident in the 2014 UN recognition of the State of Kuwait as an international hub for humanitarian efforts and His Highness the Amir as a global humanitarian leader, said Al-Thuwaikh.

Kuwaiti humanitarian contributions to regional crises such as the Syrian conflict and others is reflective of the Gulf nation’s stance on defusing tension and seeking peace, he added.

The Kuwaiti Ambassador thanked the Egyptian leadership and people for sharing Kuwait’s joy during the national celebrations, stressing that such gesture was not strange considering the excellent and historical ties linking the two countries.

A score of Egyptian officials as well as Arab and foreign diplomats attended the Kuwaiti Embassy’s celebrations in Cairo.

Furthermore, the Kuwaiti embassies in Sudan and Poland marked the 58th National Day and 28th anniversary of Liberation Day, holding receptions attended by Arab and foreign diplomats as well as senior officials.

He also mentioned the UN recognition of Kuwait as an international hub for humanitarian efforts and His Highness the Amir as a global humanitarian leader, affirming that such honors would help push his country to give more in this regard.

In regards to the 2018-19 Kuwait’s non-permanent membership in the UNSC, Ambassador Al-Qabbandi noted that his country was focusing on Arab and Islamic issues and pushing the agendas for welfare, security, peace, and development in the Arab region and the world.
