Egyptian held for ‘forging’ work permits, selling each for KD 500

KUWAIT CITY, March 21: An Egyptian expatriate working as mandoub was arrested by officers from General Department for Residence Investigation Affairs on accusation of forging work permits for money. An Interior Ministry press release said the mandoub aroused suspicion of an employee of the Immigration and Citizenship Department while he was issuing a work permit for a laborer on the sponsorship of a farm owner when he discovered that 60 laborers were already registered on the file of the farm owner. Detectives discovered that the suspect sold each work permit for KD 500 without notifying the sponsor, and he was convicted to serve three years in prison for forgery- related offense. He was referred to concerned authorities. A case was registered against him. Meanwhile, the Criminal Investigation Department arrested an Egyptian who tried to enter the country on a forged visa. Sources said an employee of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs raised doubts over the visa, and referred it to experts for verification. It was then they discovered the document had been forged. The suspect confessed giving his papers to a person in Egypt to document the visa along with his Egyptian criminal sheet for 500 Egyptian pounds in order to gain access to Kuwait. He was referred to the relevant authority for legal action. A case was registered.

Pakistani commits suicide: A 42-year old Pakistani expatriate committed suicide by hanging himself from the ceiling of his apartment in Sulaibikhat area. When securitymen received information about the suicide, they rushed to the location and pulled down the corpse, which they referred to the Forensics Department. Preliminary investigations revealed that the deceased decided to end his life when it became unbearable for him. Further investigations are ongoing.
