KUWAIT CITY, Oct 29: The Hawalli police have arrested an Egyptian employee of a restaurant for stealing 250 smart phones and Ipads worth KD 70,000 from three shops from a commercial complex in Salmiya, reports Al-Rai daily.

A security source said the theft was reported to the Salmiya police by owners of the shops and investigations carried out by securitymen led to the quick arrest of the thief who admitted to the crime after short denial.

The thief, who is working in a nearby restaurant, said he planned to rob the shops two weeks ago and reportedly hid inside the complex when the complex shut the doors for business late at night.

He added that he broke open into the three shops, collected the smart phones and Ipads in bags made of cloth and jumped down from the second floor. The source said the thief was arrested in his home while still in possession of the stolen items
