KUWAIT CITY, March 11: The British Ambassador to Kuwait Belinda Lewis announced new details with respect to encouraging the travel of Kuwaitis to her nation, reports Al-Qabas daily. Revealing that the e-visa service will be activated in February 2024, the ambassador explained that the service will be applied to Kuwaiti citizens on February 1, 2024, and it will be used effectively after February 22 of the same year. The new system differs from the current system, as an e-visa allows multiple entries for an open period of no less than two years. It applies to short tourist, medical, commercial and study visits of less than six months.

The United Kingdom will start the first phase of the e-visa exemption program with the citizens of Qatar due to the small number of its citizens and to avoid technical problems when the e-visa facility is made available to all citizens of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries and Jordan.

The program will actually be applied to Kuwaiti citizens on February 1, 2024, and will be used effectively after February 22 of the same year. A traveler can enter Britain with an e-visa once. If he desires to travel again, he has to apply for a new visa with a fee of £30. With this decision, citizens of all Gulf countries are allowed to travel to Britain for a period no less than 180 days. The visa cannot be used for work purposes or for a civil marriage contract. Every traveler must apply via the Internet, including for children. Ambassador Lewis expressed her happiness with the issuance of this decision, considering this electronic exemption as a good and long-awaited opportunity because it will work to facilitate the travel of Kuwaitis to the United Kingdom starting from February 22, 2024.
