Drugs kill youth; 87,000 ‘pills’ seized at border

KUWAIT CITY, Jan 10: A young man who died as a result of drugs overdose has been registered as ‘suicide’ upon orders of the Public Prosecution, reports Al-Anba daily. According to reports the man died in his home and the death was reported by his father. When personnel from the Forensic Department rushed to the spot, they found drugs and drugs consuming tools next to the body.

Pills’ seized: Customs officers at the Abdali border post have foiled the attempt of an Iraqi man to smuggle 87,056 narcotic pills into the country, reports Al-Anba daily. The daily added, the pills were found hidden in a secret compartment of his Jeep. It has been reported the contraband was discovered by the sophisticated detection devices that are being used at border points. The contraband and the smuggler have been referred to the General Department for Drugs Control.

The sources said the technical report of the Test Center at the Ministry of Health said the asphalt mix that was used by the ministry over a year ago in cooperation with the British Advisory Office to address the problem of flying gravel was invalid and failed to address the problem, which requires a revision of its own technical standards.

Taxi drivers robbed: The Farwaniya police have arrested two Syrians for robbing roaming taxi drivers at knife-point in Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh, Hassawi and Salmiya areas, reports Annahar daily. Heroin with stewardess: Customs officers at the Kuwait International Airport have arrested a female Kuwaiti cabin crew for possessing quantities of heroin and cocaine and three bottles of booze, reports Al-Rai daily. The daily added, the suspect came aboard a flight from Germany. The contraband was hidden in her baggage. The contraband and the suspect have been referred to the General Department for Drugs Control.
