Driver held as colonel perishes

KUWAIT CITY, Feb 12: A traffic accident on the Wafra Road, the day before yesterday, resulted in the death of a senior MoI officer, when his patrol vehicle reportedly careened off the road suddenly, killing him on the spot, reports Al-Rai daily. The sources added, “The driver of the vehicle that caused the accident has been arrested and referred to the competent authorities for interrogation.”

The daily quoting security sources said the vehicle was not involved in a chase denying earlier reports,” and that the Ministry of Interior is investigating the incident and screening the patrol’s cameras to reveal the circumstances of the accident. The sources added the General Traffic Department’s radar cameras show the vehicle was speeding that exceeded the permissible limit.

The violent deviation from far left to the middle and right lanes caused the painful accident, according to the video recordings of the patrol. Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Ahmad Al-Mansour, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior, Major-General Anwar Abdullatif Al-Barjas, and senior officers from the security establishment condoled the death of Colonel Muhammad Mubarak Al-Hajri.
