KUWAIT CITY, Aug 16: Kuwait Municipality’s Audit and Follow-up Services Department in Jahra recently inspected a commercial complex in the governorate to check the licenses for commercial advertisements. In a press statement, the department affirmed this is in line with the campaign launched by the Public Relations Department in the Municipality dubbed as, ‘Renew the advertisement of your place,’ in compliance with the directive of Municipality Director General Eng Ahmad Al-Manfouhi. Acting Director of Audit and Follow-up Services Department in Jahra Abdullah Al-Shemmeri disclosed the inspection campaign resulted in the issuance of 25 citations for various violations, including the nonrenewal of advertisement license, unlicensed advertisements and lack of maintenance.

Meanwhile, Director of Municipality Services Licensing Department in Farwaniya Talal Al-Azmi said the department registered 69 advertisement licenses from Aug 1-10, 2016 and the fees collected for these licenses amounted to KD 8,225.

He said four new licenses were issued and the fees collected for this purpose totaled KD 62.5, whereas 65 licenses were renewed and the fees collected reached KD 8,163. He called on the owners of shops to refrain from putting up advertisements without a license from the Municipality. He said the license will be issued provided the applicant submits the required official documents that indicate approval of other concerned bodies, as well as payment of insurance and other fees .

Ministry of Social Affairs and Labor last week suspended thousands of files belonging to people who registered for social aid, due to suspicions engulfing their files, affirming the files will undergo scrutiny, says Al-Seyassah.

Ministry sources mentioned that over seven thousand files are still under scrutiny in several departments, noting the ministry has since addressed a large number of people unworthy of social aid to return sums money they have received or the concerned department in the ministry will file lawsuit against them.

The same sources added the authority will request people with suspended files to visit the ministry to confirm whether or not they deserve social aid, and that scrutiny of suspected files will be completed in October.
