‘Developing officers skills to help protect citizens, expats’

KUWAIT CITY, May 3: Interior Ministry Undersecretary Lieutenant General Sulaiman Al-Fahad lauded the efforts exerted by the Private Security Department in developing the skills of officers and expanding their experiences in dealing with riots, confirming this will greatly contribute to better protection of citizens and expatriates, according to Ministry of Interior press release.

Speaking at the graduation ceremony for those who successfully completed the training course on Tuesday, Al-Fahad stressed the importance of the participants’ contribution in protecting the nation and its people. A number of trainees demonstrated the skills they learned during the training on handling riots, such as ways to break up protests and to deal with burning bottles, in addition to restoring order in protest sites.

Al-Fahad watched the trainees’ performance, during which they showcased their martial arts skills and different methods to control riots. The participating departments also presented different equipment and gadgets like cars used in breaking up riots and restoring order. He distributed certificates to those who excelled in the training course which they completed on top of other participants.

He affirmed that well-developed skills will improve the performance of security units for them to be fully prepared in dealing with riots. He added such training courses will develop security control systems, so he called for further training’s for the officers to learn more skills.

On the other hand, Assistant Undersecretary for Private Security Affairs Major General Mohammad Al-Dousari urged the Ministry of Interior to prioritize the training and development of its human resources, such that the officers will learn more skills. He pointed out these human resources are in charge of maintaining security and stability of the country; hence, the need to continuously develop their skills.
