Detention for traffic cops; Top official admits fraud in return for cash

KUWAIT CITY, Oct 8: Director General of Capital Security Directorate Major General Ibrahim Al-Tarrah ordered the detention of two officers of the directorate for 7 days after they were caught parking their patrol vehicles in parking spots allotted for people with special needs at Amiri Hospital. According to security sources, pictures of the two patrol vehicles parked in these spots have been circulating in social media. After viewing these pictures, Major General Al-Tarrah ordered an immediate investigation about the matter. Investigations revealed that the two officers had parked their patrol vehicles in the parking spots allocated for people with special needs in order to being a convicted defendant to Amiri Hospital. Major General Al-Tarrah then took the decision to detain the officers for seven days.

Officers from General Department for Residency Investigations, in cooperation with Manpower Public Authority, arrested an inspector working in Mubarak Al-Kabeer Labor Department for manipulating the evaluation of a company’s workers requirements.

According to a press statement issued by Ministry of Interior, when the department received information about the involvement of the inspector in illegally increasing the number of laborers for a restaurant more than the required number, a team was formed based on instructions from Assistant Undersecretary for Citizenship and Passport Affairs Major General Sheikh Mazen Al- Jarrah Al-Sabah.

After confirming the information and discovering that the suspect used to receive commission for committing the act, whereby he increased the number of allowed laborers from 11 to 56, he was arrested. When questioned, he admitted to the act. He was referred to the concerned authorities for necessary legal action against him.

Meanwhile, Manpower Public Authority affirmed that it will implement drastic measures to ensure such manipulation and falsification does not recur in government contracts.
