KUWAIT CITY, June 13: MP Mohammed Al- Huwailah has presented a proposal on declaring the last 10 days of Ramadan as official State holiday because this month signifies great blessings, virtues and characteristics distinguished from other months. He pointed out Ramadan is the best month of the year — the month of worship and obedience, a time when God made fasting as one of the cornerstones of Islam, the month for staying awake and reciting the Holy Quran, and a month in which one night is better than a thousand months. He said this is the month when everyone spends most of their time for worship and seeking righteousness, a great season preferred by Almighty Allah. He argued that due to the difficulty of working in the last 10 days of Ramadan and given the desire of many employees to worship during these days, declaring these days as official holiday for government employees gives the largest number of people the opportunity to dedicate their time for worship and to seek ‘the night of destiny’ which is better than a thousand months.
