DCGD registers six cases of selling drugs from March 16-24

KUWAIT CITY, March 26: The Drugs Control General Department (DCGD) registered six cases of selling drugs including brain stimulants and arrested 10 people involved in drug-related cases — fi ve Egyptians, two GCC nationals, an American and two Kuwaitis — from March 16-24. In a press statement, the Interior Ministry disclosed the department confiscated a quarter kilo of hashish, 120 grams of crystal meth (shabu), 30 grams of marijuana and 2,200 Tramadol pills.

All those arrested and the confi scated drugs during the abovementioned period were referred to the concerned authorities. Meanwhile, the department deported 17 people involved in drug-related cases whereas its Public Relations and Security Media counterpart continues to urge the citizens and residents to immediately report such cases. Last week, the DCGD received 18 drug addiction cases and all those involved were referred to the Psychiatric Hospital.

Five Kuwaiti citizens and two GCC nationals were arrested in possession of drugs during security campaigns on Salmi and Abdali roads. According to security sources, Jahra securitymen were at a security checkpoint on Salmi Road when they stopped a vehicle with four occupants based on suspicions and checked their details to discover two are Kuwaiti citizens including the driver and two are GCC nationals. When securitymen asked them to step out of the vehicle, they noticed one of them throw a bag under the vehicle.

They retrieved the bag and checked it to fi nd methamphetamine and other narcotic pills. They immediately arrested the fi ve suspects. Meanwhile, securitymen also arrested three Kuwaiti citizens at a security checkpoint on Abdali Road after fi nding drugs in their vehicle. All seven suspects were referred with the confi scated drugs to the Directorate General for Drugs Control for necessary legal action against them. Jahra securitymen also discovered four vehicles, which were reported as stolen, parked in lots and referred them to the concerned police stations.
