Curtain drawn on West Asian Triathlon Championship

KUWAIT CITY, March 20: The Curtain, which was organized by the Kuwait Triathlon Club and West Asian Triathlon Federation, concluded successfully at the Marina Beach. A wide range of competitors and champions of all ages participated in the championship. The sprint competitions for all age groups, in which international champions participated in the women’s category, witnessed Lindsay Nader from Lebanon winning first place, Michaela Suria from Argentina winning second place, and Tonya Makari from Lebanon winning third place. In the men’s category, Ali Al-Zoubi from Lebanon came first, followed by Thomas Berocca from Argentina in second place, and Rayan Al-Khowiter from Saudi Arabia in third place.

In the professional sprint category, the title for the women’s category was won by Lydia Musleh from Jordan. The second and third places were won by Naglaa Al-Jariwi and Huda Al-Saleh from Kuwait respectively. In the men’s category, Adnan Zaki from Syria came first, followed by Abdul Rahman Mubarak from Bahrain in second place, and Saud Al Zaabi from the Emirates in third. In the super sprint category, the women’s title was won by Shagwan Muhammad from Iraq, followed by Fai Al- Mulla from Kuwait in second place, and Lulwa Al-Rifai from Kuwait in third.

In the men’s category, the title was won by Salman Al-Saffar from Kuwait, followed by Shihab Jaber from Iraq in second place, and Abdullah Al-Shammari from Canada in third. Finally, in the team sprint competitions, the Fish Burger team from Kuwait won first place, followed by the Kuwait team in second place and then Kuwait’s Ministry of Interior team in third.

On the sidelines of the championship, a meeting of the West Asian Triathlon Federation was held at the Marina Hotel. It was attended by the Vice President Abdullah Abdulsalam (Bahrain), Secretary General Tariq Al Khayyat (Jordan), Financial Secretary Rashid Al Kandari (Kuwait), and members Ali Maqbool (Saudi Arabia), Abdulmalik Jani (UAE), Nayef Al-Asaad (Syria), Ahmad Khalifa (Lebanon), Rashid Musleh (Palestine), Haitham Al-Farai (Oman) and Bakhtiyar Rasul (Iraq).

In this regard, President of the club and the Kuwait Triathlon Federation and the Finance Secretary of the West Asian Triathlon Federation Rashid Al-Kandari affirmed that the championship was a great success and received praise from the participants including the West Asian teams and the world champions, who were keen to participate in the sprint category for all age groups. He said, “Kuwait hosted the West Asian Triathlon Championship or the first time.

It is also for the first time that it organized the professional category race, recognized by the International Triathlon Federation and the International Olympic Committee. More than 500 individuals participated in the race, which is evidence of the confidence of the International Triathlon Federation in Kuwait. This gives us great motivation to continue organizing big events. The West Asian Triathlon Federation held its meeting on the sidelines of the championship. Everyone praised Kuwait for the wonderful organization of the championship. The federation decided to form a technical committee with the participation of Rabaa Al-Hajri from Kuwait, and with the approval to hold the next meeting of the West Asian Triathlon Federation administration in Bahrain.”
