KUWAIT CITY, March 13: The court has ordered payment of KD 25,000 compensation to an Egyptian man for the serious injuries and car damages he suffered when he figured in a traffic accident. Lawyer for the Egyptian, Attorney Noha Arrayes, disclosed that after the issuance of the final verdict against the person who caused the accident (defendant), she filed a petition to obligate the insurance company and defendant to pay KD 25,000 compensation to her client.

Case files indicate the accused crossed the red light so his vehicle collided with that of the Egyptian who sustained serious injuries and whose car was severely damaged. In her presentation, Arrayes requested for referral of her client to the Forensic Medicine Department in order to determine the medical disorder he suffered due to the accident. She also highlighted the physical and psychological harm which the accident caused to her client, so she demanded KD 25,000 compensation to be paid by the insurance company and the defendant.

Man acquitted: The Criminal Court, presided over by Judge Abdullah Al-Othman, acquitted a citizen of molesting his children. The Public Prosecution charged the suspect, based on a petition submitted by the father of his ex-wife, with molesting his children as he allegedly touched private parts of their bodies. Attorney Abdulmohsen Al-Qattan, who represented the citizen in court, argued the accusation is malicious considering the case papers do not contain any evidence against his client. He also raised a question in court: Is it logical for a father to molest his own children? After a thorough analysis of the proof and arguments presented by both sides, the court acquitted the citizen due to the absence of incriminating evidence.

Hearing continues: The Criminal Court, chaired by Judge Mohammad Ja’afar, on Monday will continue the hearing on a case filed by the State Security Department against 13 people suspected of involvement in Fintas Group and then summon the crime investigation officers. In the previous session, the court looked into two requests made by the defense team – to arraign Sheikh Ahmad Al-Fahad as principal suspect in the case and to include the ‘fabricated tape’ issue in the case. Case files indicate that the Public Prosecution charged four of the suspects with offending the entities of HH the Amir, HH the Crown Prince and the judicial authority, in addition to misusing the phone. The other suspects were accused of offending the judicial authority and misusing the phone.
