KUWAIT CITY, Sept 30: The Misdemeanor Court of Appeals revoked its decision to sentence three Kuwaitis to three years imprisonment on the accusations of swindling a Kuwaiti woman of KD 60,000 and acquitted them of all charges. Defending the first suspect, Lawyer Bashar Al-Nassar noted the plaintiff only filed a complaint eight months after the alleged incident. He argued that “it’s illogical for any person exposed, to swindling to wait that long to file a case.” He pointed out that the relationship between the plaintiff and the defendants was that of a partnership, which ended with financial losses. He proved his argument with the partnership contracts, as well as the end of partnership contracts the defendants had signed with the plaintiff.

Ruling overturned: The Court of Appeals revoked the decision of the Court of First Instance and acquitted a citizen of possessing illicit drugs and driving under the influence of intoxicant. The First Instance Court had sentenced the citizen in absentia to five years imprisonment with a fine of KD 5000 fee and withdrawal of his driving license.

Liquor with Kuwaiti: The Hawalli police have arrested a Kuwaiti for possessing nine bottles of imported booze, reports Al-Rai daily. The suspect was caught in Salmiya area. At the time of arrest he was under the influence of alcohol. The bottles were found hidden under the back seat of his car. The suspect and the contraband have been referred to the concerned authorities.
