KUWAIT CITY, Nov 18: Ministry of Interior is considering replacing the penalty of 48-hour prison sentence for individuals who commit serious traffic violations, and instead force them to carry out community service, reports Al-Shahed daily quoting informed sources.

They revealed about the intention of the ministry to establish a department for imposing community service on such traffic violators such as forcing them to clean roads, or participate in humanitarian, educational, environmental and servitude activities. The sources said this department will also benefit from the participation of the traffic violators in reciting the Quran to the disabled people and cleaning state institutions and ministries.

They indicated that Ministry of Interior intends to send a security team to a number of countries who have applied this system in order to benefit from their experience of applying the penalty of community service and then submit their study to the Cabinet for adoption.
