Minister of Commerce and Industry Khaled Al-Roudhan opens Kuwait Intellectual Property Library.

KUWAIT CITY, May 8, (KUNA): The Ministry of Commerce and Industry has been hard at work to cope with latest technology, and to improve Kuwait’s ranking on the business environment, Minister Khaled Al-Roudhan said.

The ministry has gone a long way in that respect, the minister added during the ceremony of opening of the Kuwait Intellectual Property Library, Tuesday. Director of the World Organization for Intellectual Property (WIPO) Regional Bureau for Arab Countries Walid Abdelnasser, attended the ceremony, together with ministry’s Assistant Undersecretary for Foreign Trade and International Organizations Affairs Sheikh Nimr Al-Sabah.

The library reflects eagerness to promote its intellectual property sector, the minister said, noting that it would also help improve the business environment index. The facility includes a digital library that will be connected to the WIPO’s creativity library as the third one from the Gulf region, Al-Roudhan.

According to the minister, procedures of filling and registering a trademark are now available on line, reducing the measures to three months, instead of a year in the past. For his part, Sheikh Nimr Al- Sabah said that such digital libraries have become a major destination of students, researchers and intellectuals.
