Coast Guard seizes large quantity of drugs – Securitymen arrest Asian with 6.1-kg heroin, ‘Ice’

KUWAIT CITY, May 16: A GCC national and a Bedoun were arrested for attempting to smuggle large quantity of hashish into Kuwait on a boat via sea, reports Al-Seyassah daily.

According to sources, when the radar system of General Department for Coast Guard detected a boat infiltrating Kuwaiti territorial waters, a marine patrol team was sent to the location. The team stopped the boat and checked the details of the two individuals onboard to discover they are expatriates.

They checked the boat to find large quantity of hashish. When interrogated, the suspects confessed that they were planning to deliver the hashish to some individuals who will wait for them on a coastal area in Kuwait. A security team was immediately formed to monitor the area where the drug handover was to take place. They found two individuals waiting at the location, and when they approached them to arrest them, the suspects ran.

Securitymen chased them and eventually managed to arrest them. They checked the documents of the suspects to discover one is a GCC national while the other is a Bedoun. They were arrested and referred to the concerned authorities for necessary legal action.

Meanwhile, an Asian expatriate was arrested for smuggling 6.1 kilograms of heroin and large quantities of “Ice” drug by hiding them inside a shipment of electronic equipment sent to the country via courier. According to sources, when the Drugs Control General Department received information about a suspicious package sent to Kuwait via an air cargo company, a team was formed for monitoring the package.

When an Asian expatriate arrived to receive the package, he was arrested. When the package was checked, 6.1 kilograms of heroin drug and a large quantity of “Ice” drug was found hidden among some electronic devices. When questioned, the suspect confessed to smuggling drugs into Kuwait and selling them to his clients who are drug users. He was referred with the confiscated drugs to the concerned authorities for further investigations.

Meanwhile, two Kuwaiti citizens were arrested in Ahmadi area in possession of drugs including hashish, reports Al-Seyassah. According to security sources, Ahmadi securitymen were patrolling the area when they suspected an SUV with two occupants.
