KUWAIT CITY, Oct 6: Minister of Justice, Minister of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs Yaqoub Al-Sane has given instructions to apply fingerprints attendance system for muezzins because of the large number of complaints received by the ministry that cleaning company workers make the call for prayers, reports Al-Qabas daily.

According to ministry sources Al- Sane has terminated the services of three expatriate imams for non-commitment to ‘calls’ for prayer. He is also said to have opened an investigation into allegations that an imam had been appointed without taking the ability test following the intervention of one of the senior officials of the ministry.

On the other hand, sources said the ministry has referred some officials manning a pilgrimage convoy for investigation for using loud speakers and carrying political and sectarian placards during the rituals.
