City named ‘Kuwait’ planned

KUWAIT CITY, March 1: Turkish Ambassador to Kuwait Tuba Nur Sönmez recently met with President of the Union of Foundations and Charitable Societies Dr Nasser Al-Ajmi and representatives of a number of charities and foundations to discuss the idea of establishing a city named ‘Kuwait’ in the areas affected by the devastating earthquakes that hit Turkiye earlier this month, reports Al-Qabas daily.

The ambassador expressed appreciation for the efforts exerted by the Kuwaiti government and people, stressing that the Kuwaiti solidarity with the Turkish people after the earthquakes goes beyond ordinary relations. She pointed out the fraternal relationship was evident in the air bridge ordered by the Kuwaiti political leadership starting from the first day of the earthquakes, in addition to the outpouring of donations from individuals.

On the other hand, Al-Ajmi expressed condolences to the families of the victims of the devastating earthquakes. He affirmed that he, the Turkish ambassador and representatives of charitable associations and foundations tackled a number of issues; particularly the important needs of those affected by the disaster. Meanwhile, the Turkish ambassador praised Kuwait’s solidarity with her country, considering the amount of aid it has provided to support the victims of the earthquake that struck Turkiye and Syria, reports Al-Qabas daily.
