Cigarette smuggling into Saudi Arabia foiled at Salmi border

KUWAIT CITY, Dec 25: Customs officers at the Salmi border crossing foiled several attempts by people of several nationalities to smuggle cigarettes out of the country and into Saudi Arabia, reports Annahar daily.

According to a customs source, instructions have been issued by the Director-General of the General Administration of Customs to tighten the inspection process to prevent such smuggling operations which occur from time to time.

The Customs officers at the Salmi border point are now to inspect the luggage in every detail and this has resulted in the seizure of thousands of cigarettes.
