CID arrest youth for ‘swindling’ 80 people to the tune of KD 4 mn

KUWAIT CITY, March 29: Personnel from the Criminal Investigation Department have arrested a 21-year-old Kuwaiti for swindling people, reports Al-Jarida daily. According to security sources the youth convinced people that he will invest their money on their behalf and promised high monthly returns.

The arrest came after one of the victims, a Kuwaiti woman, filed a complaint saying she gave the young man KD 100,000 before he promised to give her KD 1,000 profit every month but did not show his face after taking the money. Intensive police investigations showed the youth is a criminal and had been sentenced in absentia to three years in jail.

Police records also showed he had cheated 80 other Kuwaitis to the tune of KD four million. Police then set a trap for the suspect and caught him and a compatriot woman who was sheltering him. At the time of arrest he was in possession of narcotics and KD 296 cash.
