KUWAIT CITY, Aug 8: The Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs has called on the Ministry of Health to ease the health requirements in mosques, allow worshippers to pray close together, and allow organizing lessons, lectures, and cultural activities, in line with the Cabinet’s decisions, reports Al-Rai daily. According to the letter addressed to the undersecretary of the Ministry of Health, the request of the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs is aimed at the doing away of the guide to the policies, procedures and rules for the gradual return to work in government agencies and the return of the fingerprint attendance system, based on the recommendations of the Ministry of Health, which worked tirelessly during the pandemic period and is still working on providing COVID-19 vaccines for the general public. These efforts have resulted in raising societal immunity.

The Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs affirmed its keenness to play its legal and awareness role, without any prejudice to the requirements of the exceptional stage related to the repercussions of confronting the spread of COVID-19. It called for approval to ease health requirements in mosques, especially to allow the congregation to pray close together, in implementation of the guidance of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), as well as allow holding lessons and cultural activities in mosques, as was the case before the pandemic, with the possibility of committing to wearing masks and using personal prayer mats.
