KUWAIT CITY, April 18, (KUNA): The Cabinet held its regular weekly meeting at the Bayan Palace chaired by His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah. As Monday’s meeting started, the Cabinet was informed of a message from Malaysian Prime Minister Naguib Razak inviting His Highness the Premier to attend the opening of the International Conference on Blue Ocean (ICBOS), due in Putrajaya, 16-18 August, 2016.

Then, First Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah briefed the meeting on the positive outcome of the 13th Islamic Summit Conference of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) recently held in Istanbul, Turkey, under the theme “Unity and Solidarity for Justice and Peace.” The Summit lauded Kuwait’s sincere efforts to back the humanitarian situation in Syria.

The Final Communique of the summit, Istanbul Declaration, noted that Kuwait had hosted the First, Second and Third International Humanitarian Pledging Conferences for Syria, over the past three years. The Istanbul summit highly appreciated Kuwait which welcomed to host negotiations among Yemeni parties. It also commended the country’s support to the humanitarian situation in Yemen, and the efforts seeking to restore security and stability in the country, in line with constitutional legitimacy.

Condemned
The Muslim leaders condemned all terrorist attacks, and Hezbollah for supporting terrorist groups and movements that destabilize security and stability of OIC member states. The Cabinet expressed pride as the summit congratulated His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah on the UN honoring, naming him a “Humanitarian Leader,” Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah said.

Then, the Cabinet approved and referred to His Highness the Amir a draft bill amending article 79 of the Law 23/1986 on the police force. The bill will later find its way to the National Assembly. By the same token, the Cabinet approved a draft resolution on the statute of Law 78/2015 on genetic imprint. The ministers approved a draft decree on a MoU for technical and scientific cooperation between the Kuwait’s Secretariat of the Supreme Council for Planning and Development (SCPD) and Tunisia’s Ministry Development, Investment and International Cooperation.

They also consented to another draft decree approving the 2010 Manila Amendments introduced to the International Convention on Standards of Training, Certification and Watchkeeping for Seafarers (STCW), 1978. Both decrees were referred to His Highness the Amir. Referring to the National Assembly affairs, the Cabinet reviewed the outcome of the assembly’s Tuesday session which discussed the grilling motion against Minister of Commerce and Industry Dr Yousif Al-Ali. The motion was submitted by MPs Ahmad Al-Qodaibi and Mubarak Al-Hurais. The ministers praised Al-Ali’s convincing replies to all points of the grilling motion. Concluding today’s meeting, the Cabinet reviewed political developments on the Arab and international scenes.
