‘Brothers’ struggle for material world lingers

Since the assassination of Hassan al-Banna, the founder of the terrorist Brotherhood movement in 1949, at the age of 43, by the Egyptian authorities the struggle for his position in Egypt has not stopped.

The last images which we hope will continue until the party’s annihilation, the struggle and disagreement that took place over the position of leader between Ibrahim Munir and Mahmoud Hussein, and the contradictory statements issued a while ago by both parties.

Their struggle confirms, beyond any doubt, the mundane portrayal of the movement and its leaders’ search for worldly pleasures, and their struggle over the organization’s wealth and the power and influence it represents contrary to what they claimed almost a century ago that they were brought up on intimacy, mercy and affection between them.

The so-called “Brotherhood Scholars” issued a statement a few days ago regarding the necessity of resolving the conflict in the group between the fronts of Mahmoud Hussein and Ibrahim Munir, with the majority siding with the latter and calling for the former to adhere to, and not provoke, emphasizing the pledge of allegiance to Munir, and the necessity of working to take over the righteous, the faithful and assigning the matter to every strong and trustworthy person, and I do not know how it is possible to know these who is strong and trustworthy.

Is it the size of prayer mark on their foreheads, for example? Referring to Mahmoud Hussein and his companions from among the leaders of the Istanbul Front, the statement called for the expulsion of every person with a passion or purpose, and to work for unification and assimilation of the offenders, rejecting exclusion and marginalization, and moving towards development and renewal within the framework of institutionalization, collective leadership, solidarity responsibility, or avoidance of differences or such matters the destroys polite dialogue.

The following days witnessed a new chapter of the divisions that afflicted the Muslim Brotherhood for months, as Mahmoud Hussein, the former Secretary-General of the Brotherhood and the leader of what was known as the Istanbul Front, made statements broadcast by the group’s websites, in which he confirmed the invalidity of the decisions of Ibrahim Munir, the Acting General Guide, and his dismissal from his position, and the selection of a temporary committee to carry out his duties.

Giving the details of the dispute, Hussein revealed that at the beginning of Munir’s assumption of responsibility on the ninth of September 2020, he personally submitted a request signed by him and 10 leaders of the Shura Council to amend Article 5 of the group’s bylaw which stipulates that he assumes the task of Chargé d’affaires after the arrest of Mahmoud Ezzat and the need to activate institutional work by referring the matter to the General Shura Council to take a decision, adding that he was surprised by Munir ignoring this that Munir is not allowed to dissolve elected councils or dismiss or suspend leaders in the Shura, declaring that the council issued a decision to relieve Munir from his position and cancel all its decisions.

With this step, the arena was prepared for Hussein to assume the position of General Chargé d’Affairs for the Guide instead of Munir, and he retained all the companies, tasks and responsibilities subject to the group, and companies and interests are the core of the worldly conflict between the two parties.

Of course, Munir was not satisfied with that and the struggle over worldly interests between the ‘brothers’ continues. Youssef Nada, the former commissioner for international relations of the Brotherhood and responsible for their investments in most parts of the world also supported Munir’s decision.

It is also said that the group’s historical leaders who are in Egyptian prisons settled the matter years ago and confirmed that in the event of Mahmoud Ezzat’s arrest, Munir would be appointed in his place. I do not know how a movement with this intellectual weakness managed to control the minds and ideas of all these generations.

Note: The Supreme Council of Muslims in Germany announced that the Islamic Gathering, which is affiliated with the Muslim Brotherhood, is classified as a terrorist group in Germany.
