‘Biggest’ liquor factory busted in Jahra

KUWAIT CITY, Nov 20: A 20-year-old woman, who was under the influence of alcohol, was arrested in Salmiya for obstructing traffic and she took a video of the securitymen during her arrest. While patrolling the area, the officers noticed the woman’s vehicle was obstructing traffic. When they approached the vehicle, they discovered that the woman was drunk as the smell of liquor emanated from her. The officers then asked the woman to go with them to the police station but she refused and started taking a video of them. This prompted the officers to request for back-up and the woman was taken to the police station.

Liquor factory busted: Acting on information and after taking legal procedures, the Jahra police raided an apartment which was rented by Asians and turned it into a liquor factory, reports Al-Anba daily. It has been reported this is the biggest ‘factory’ of its kind and police have reportedly seized from the men 5,000 bottles of booze ready for sale. This is in addition to several drums filled with raw material and equipments used for distilling alcohol. The manufacturers and the contraband have been referred to the General Department for Drugs and Alcohol Control.

Seven caught drunk: Police have arrested seven people — five Kuwaitis, a Syrian, and an Egyptian for drinking alcohol, reports Al-Rai daily. The daily said the man behind the wheel was ordered to pull over for reckless driving and while checking his licence and car registration documents, police found him and the other occupants of the car under the influence of alcohol. The drunkards were seized in Salmiya at dawn. They have been referred to the concerned authorities. Meanwhile, the Farwaniya Police have arrested an Asian for trafficking in locally manufactured booze and referred him to the General Department for Drugs and Alcohol Control, reports Al-Shahed daily. The Asian was arrested at a police checkpoint in Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh. Police have seized from his car 166 bottles of local booze. Also, police have arrested an Asian for bootlegging. He was caught in Jabriya, reports Al-Rai daily. Police have seized from the man 200 bottles of locally-manufactured alcohol. A police source said the Asian was driving in the area and when he saw a police car, he looked confused.
