‘Beware fraudsters’ via Viber or WhatsApp

KUWAIT CITY, Sept 25: Citizens and residents who use the mobile phone are requested by the security authorities not to communicate with unknown people via Viber or WhatsApp applications, reports Al-Anba daily quoting security sources. The same sources said professional hackers are on the prowl and steal data from the cell phones within minutes. The source added the security authorities have received a barrage of reports about fraud notably committed after having access to the cell phones. The ploy begin with luring the unsuspecting people that they have won big prizes and then the hackers manage to steal their money from bank accounts after having access to their card PIN number.

Bootlegger held: Police have arrested an Indian for bootlegging, reports Al-Rai daily. According to a security source, the Farwaniya patrolmen saw a car parked on an open ground in Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh with no one inside. When police checked the car, they found in it black bags with bottle of booze. When police checked the details of the car they discovered the can had been rented. After the suspect was identified, police rushed to his house and took him into custody. The bootlegger is holding degree in computer engineering. During interrogation he admitted to bootlegging. The suspect and 210 bottles of booze found in his car have been handed over to the General Department for Drugs and Alcohol Control.

Lankan arrested: Police have arrested a Sri Lankan for manufacturing alcohol, reports Al-Rai daily. A security source said firefighters rushed to a building in Salmiya after the Operations Room of the Interior Ministry received a report about fire in the apartment. Firefighters controlled the fire and prevented it from spreading to other apartments and while clearing the debris firefighters discovered the apartment had been used by a Sri Lankan to manufacture booze. When police were informed about the incident, they discovered the tenant had escaped from the building to evade arrest following which police put the building under surveillance and caught the bootlegger when he returned to check the damage to the building and his property.
