Best drifters battle it out for the coveted title – Oman to host Red Bull Car Park Drift Final 2016

KUWAIT CITY, Dec 7: For the first time ever, the region’s biggest drifting competition — the Red Bull Car Park Drift Final 2016 — is set to land in Oman on Dec 9. Held in association with the Oman Automobile Association, with support from the Ministry of Tourism, the event will bring the best drifters from the Middle East and Africa to the Sultanate to battle it out for the coveted ‘King of Drift’ title. The Red Bull Car Park Drift series is a key fixture in the annual regional motorsports calendar. Local Qualifiers have taken place across the region in Qatar, Kuwait, Egypt, Mauritius, Lebanon, Tunisia and Morocco and Jordan, Oman, Bahrain and UAE, selecting the top drifters to battle it out in the Final. The event challenges the skills of the drifters and the capabilities of their cars. Rally driver and Red Bull Athlete Abdo Feghali is tasked with designing the challenging tracks for all the Local Qualifiers around the region and plans to make the most demanding track yet at this year’s Final.

In recent years, the Sultanate of Oman has growing into a world-class tourism destination and is fast becoming a hub for sporting events. The country has held international championships, Olympic qualifying events and is a regular venue for some of the world’s leading international artists and comedians to perform for eager crowds. Earlier this year, Oman hosted the Red Bull F1 Showrun, bringing Red Bull Racing’s Championship-winning RB7 Formula 1 car and racing legend David Coulthard to the Sultanate for the very first time. The Red Bull Car Park Drift Final 2016 is expected to set a new benchmark for motorsport events in Oman.

The Red Bull Car Park Drift Final will be taking place at Port Sultan Qaboos, Muttrah. Historically, Muttrah Harbour has been at the centre of Oman’s social and economic life. Fast forward to 2016, the Muttrah harbour area retains an authentic charm. The iconic and picturesque location forms an ideal backdrop for the Red Bull Car Park Drift Final, the largest motorsport event to ever come to Oman. Official partners for the event include one of the world’s leading motor companies Nissan, global oil and gas company Total, online shipping delivery service Shop and Ship, ultra-high performance tires Falken Tires GoPro, MBC Action, Hi FM, Hala FM, Times of Oman, Shabiba, Bank Muscat and Omran.
