Bangladeshi gets death, compatriot life in prison for drug peddling

KUWAIT CITY, Dec 29: The Criminal Court sentenced a Bangladeshi to death by execution and his compatriot to life imprisonment for trafficking in drugs, reports Al-Seyassah daily. Case files indicate the arrest happened after one of the accused beat the red light in Ahmadi.

The officers, who stopped the suspects due to the traffic violation, got suspicious after noticing the agitated demeanor of the two Bangladeshis. The officers then searched the vehicle thoroughly, resulting in the discovery of six bags of hashish. The two Bangladeshis were referred to the Public Prosecution which charged them with drug trafficking.

Youth arrested: Officers from the Capital arrested a Kuwaiti youth under the influence of drugs in Faiha area, and seized drug tools in his possession. A security source said the youth is out of control and seems to be addicted to drugs. Meanwhile, Ahmadi securitymen arrested a captain from Defense Ministry in Thaher area for possessing drug and its paraphernalia. A security source said the officers recovered 326 narcotic pills, drug tools and hunting weapon from the suspect. He was referred to Drug Prosecution.

Drug pills seized: An unidentified Egyptian who was caught in Hawally in possession of 159 drug pills has been handed over to the General Department of Drugs Control, reports Al-Rai daily. The suspect was caught at a late evening hour. Meanwhile, customs officers arrested three citizens in Nuwaiseeb Border for the possession of 14 bullets, reports Al-Anba daily. The three citizens were referred to the concerned security department for interrogation and other legal measures.
