Parents not allowed in clubs

KUWAIT CITY, June 28: The decision to prevent unvaccinated people from entering certain public places, which took effect on Sunday, does not apply to cooperative societies and parallel markets measuring less than 6,000 square meters, reports Al-Qabas daily quoting a reliable source. The source confirmed that unvaccinated individuals are allowed to enter cooperative societies; parallel markets and food outlets (fish, vegetables, slaughterhouses); and the cooperatives’ complexes provided these establishments measure less than 6,000 square meters. As for the supermarkets inside the commercial complexes, the source clarified that unvaccinated individuals will not be allowed to enter the supermarkets inside commercial complexes covered by the decision. Unvaccinated individuals can enter only the external or independent branches, the source added.

The sports clubs for children have received instructions to prevent unvaccinated parents from entering the waiting rooms with their children; as sports clubs are among the facilities covered by the recent decision of the Cabinet to ban the entry of unvaccinated people to certain places, reports Al-Qabas daily. The ministries of Health and Social Affairs also issued a decision regarding the resumption of the operation of nurseries — unvaccinated parents should not enter the nurseries with their children; stressing that parents should be vaccinated or they are among the groups exempted from vaccination in order to be allowed entry to the nurseries.

Ministry of Education Undersecretary Dr Ali Al-Yacoub has confirmed the formation of a working team tasked to prepare about 1,000 schools for the safe resumption of traditional classes in the next school year 2021/2022; indicating the resumption will be full provided the Ministry of Health approves or as it deems appropriate in September, reports Al-Rai daily. Al-Yacoub disclosed the team “will follow up all the needs of schools such as books, furniture, maintenance and air conditioning.” He said the educational bodies will work towards covering these needs during the summer vacation. He affirmed these were the points discussed in his recent meeting with the Financial Sector and concerned entities in bid to consider the related tenders currently available at the ministry.

Meanwhile, Al-Yaqoub assured those residing in Khairan that “the ministry will open all closed schools in the area at the beginning of the new academic year according to the number of students.” He said the ministry requested for a report on the number of students; so “we will look into the possibility of opening one or two schools, or perhaps, all four schools that need maintenance.”
