KUWAIT CITY, April 8: Bahraini actress Zahra Arafat shocked her followers by saying it is not right to believe that the artistes have ‘millions’ and denounced calls for donations to fight the coronavirus, reports Al-Seyassah daily.

She went on to say, some of them are so poor that they don’t have sufficient money to pay their house rents. “Do not think that the artistes are not affected by the current crisis due to the coronavirus,” she added, noting that whoever thinks otherwise is wrong. She told those who invited artistes to donate, she said, “The artistes (some) are poor.”

The artiste’s message, sparked controversy among the public and some accused her of “trying to erase the artiste’s positive side and inciting not to donate.”

Arafat’s speech coincided with calls to urge artistes, celebrities, and businessmen to “donate to the poor, and to play a positive role in facing the financial crisis experienced by many because of the curfew imposed on them.” Zahra Arafat is one of the most famous actresses in the Gulf.

Her career started many years ago, until she reached fame, and she continued her drama and theatrical works, especially in Kuwait, along with other Gulf contributions, whether on television or theater, as well as in presenting program.
