Backlog rush in reopening

KUWAIT CITY, July 1: On the first official day of work after a standstill of about four months, life returned to government departments, while some departments witnessed a large influx of people, especially the departments of births and deaths and the departments of ‘electricity’, to complete overdue transactions, reports Al-Seyassah daily.

The Al-Seyassah daily explored the atmosphere of the start of the ‘second phase’ of the gradual return to life in various aspects. And it monitored the work progress in government institutions, complexes and markets which were given the nod to carry on with its activities.

In the ministries complex, the situation was unusually calm, and the employees were committed to the health requirements such as wearing of gloves and masks and ensured that all visitors remained committed to the instructions issued by the Council of Ministers and the Ministry of Health.

In spite of the fact that majority of government institutions adhered to booking appointments online, several visitors who did not book their appointments electronically were turned away and told to communicate either through ‘WhatsApp’, or through its websites. Director of the Department of the Ministries Complex, Abdel Nasser Al-Abdullah, confirmed that the administration has taken several precautionary and preventive measures that would reduce the outbreak of the coronavirus, including, but not limited to, installing thermal cameras at all entrances to the complex to measure the temperature of employees and visitors in the future.

He said in a press statement an administrative circular has been issued to all government agencies to inform them of the precautionary procedures to be followed for the safety of all, as visitors will be allowed to enter only if a prior appointment is obtained through the automated system of the concerned authority. He added that things inside the complex are stable and under control in light of the sterilization process that takes place on a daily basis and includes even elevators and escalators, hoping do away with the scourge of the epidemic will from Kuwait.
