KUWAIT CITY, Feb 29: A young man with his sister sustained various degrees of injuries when their vehicle toppled near a private school in Jahra area. The motorist was driving at excessive speed when he lost control of the vehicle, swerving and crashed into a pavement before the flip flop.

The duo with several female students who were crossing the road at the time of the incident escaped without a scratch by divine intervention. Meanwhile, in another incident, two Asian expatriates were arrested in Salmiya area in possession of 35 bottles of locally manufactured liquor.

According to security sources, Hawally securitymen were patrolling Salmiya area at night when they noticed two individuals sitting inside a bus that was parked in a lot.

Securitymen checked their details to discover they are Asian expatriates who were reported as absconding and violated the residency law. When securitymen checked the bus, they found 35 bottles of locally manufactured liquor. The suspects were arrested and referred with the liquor bottles to the concerned authorities for necessary legal action against them.

Bootlegger held
Police have arrested an Indian for bootlegging and handed him over to the General Department for Drugs and Alcohol Control, reports Al-Rai daily. The daily added, the suspect was arrested when police were organizing traffic in Salmiya.

When the Indian saw police, he looked nervous. Police then searched his car and found 90 bottles of locallymanufactured alcohol. Meanwhile, police have arrested two Kuwaitis consuming alcohol, reports Al-Anba daily. A security source said the Ahmadi police on duty in Al-Zahra stopped a motorist for reckless driving. While issuing a citation, police discovered the man behind the wheel and his friend in the passenger seat were drunk.

Police seized two bottles of alcohol from the men. And, the Jahra police have arrested a four-man gang — two Kuwaitis, a bedoun and a citizen from an unidentified GCC state — for robbing mobile groceries, reports Al-Shahed daily. Following complaints filed by the victims, police investigations led them to one of the suspects, who during interrogation admitted to the charge and gave police the names of his three accomplices. The suspects have admitted to robbing 8 groceries.
