Asian driver helping maids flee

The Home Employment Department of the General Department of Residence Affairs ended the activity of an Asian driver who was helping domestic workers run away from the houses of their sponsors and taking them to the embassies of their countries, reports Al- Anba daily.

During interrogation the driver has admitted to helping at least 30 maids to escape in return for KD 40 each. A security source said the Home Employment Department, based on its follow-up on the issues of domestic workers and the information published on them, monitored a page on Facebook in which the suspect offered his service to help maids to escape.

The source added the driver was identified and arrested in Sabah Al- Salem while attempting to help a housemaid to escape. The Asian has been referred to the concerned authorities to prepare his deportation.
