DOHA, May 13, (KUNA): The seventh Arab-China cooperation forum approved during its final session on Thursday the Doha declaration and the executive program for 2016-2018.

This session of the forum reflects the mutual trust and the shared desire to deepen the strategic cooperation between both sides in all fields, Qatari Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammad bin Abdul-Rahman Al Thani said.

He made the comments at a joint press conference with his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi and the Arab League Secretary-General Nabil Al-Araby following the meeting.

“The friendly ties and common interests between the Arab countries and China play pivotal role in addressing a lot of regional and international issues amid the changing political, economic and environmental conditions,” the Qatari Minister pointed out.

Sheikh Mohammad highlighted the importance of maintaining the special relationship and making more efforts to strengthen the constructive dialogue among civilizations.

“The discussions also included the vision of Chinese President Xi Jinping for building the Silk Road Economic Belt and the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road, he revealed.

He added that President Xi set forth his vision during his visit to the Arab League in last January and called for building a strategic partnership with the Arab countries.

On his part, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said this session of the forum made a big stride in the Arab-Chinese partnership particularly in the political and economic domains.

The two sides agreed to double their efforts to find peaceful solutions to all conflicts in the Arab region, he said, noting that his country and Qatar agreed to push their relations to an even higher level.

Wang noted that the two sides share the view that the Silk Road Economic Belt and the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road offer huge investment opportunities and will serve the historical friendly ties.

China will offer up to USD 15 billion in loans for the industrial sector in the Middle East countries with emphasis on the oil and gas, renewable energies, auto, and construction industries, he said.

He added that the executive program of action specifies 36 areas of cooperation in the coming two years.

Meanwhile, Dr. Al-Araby said the two documents, approved today will give a strong impetus to the strategic cooperation in all fields.

The declaration and the executive program will advance the friendly ties in such areas as energy, technology, scientific research and infrastructure in the coming two years, Al-Araby affirmed.

He appreciated China’s supportive stance on several Arab issues, notably the Palestine question and conflicts in Syria, Yemen and Libya.

He added that the visit to the Arab League by President Xi charted a roadmap for the Arab-Chinese relations and proved that China is the sincere friend of the Arab countries.

The Arab-Chinese cooperation forum convenes on a biannual basis; its last session was hosted by Beijing in 2014.
