KUWAIT CITY, May 28: Statistics released recently by Kuwait Petroleum Corporation (KPC) revealed that the amount of indemnity given to expatriates employed in the corporation and its subsidiaries reached KD85 million over the last five years, reports Al-Anba daily.
Kuwait Oil Company (KOC) and Kuwait National Petroleum Company (KNPC) recorded the highest amount of indemnity granted to expatriate employees within the abovementioned period – KD32.5 million and KD35.7 million respectively. Sources affirmed KPC fully abides by Private Sector Labor Law number 6 of the year 2010 in granting non- Kuwaiti workers indemnity equal to their 30 days salary for each year in the first five years of service and 45 days in the following years.
Sources said the number of expatriates working in the oil sector is as follows: two in KPC, 2,052 in KOC, 699 in KNPC, 82 in Petrochemicals Industry Company (PIC), 54 in Kuwait Oil Tankers Company (KOTC), 29 in Kuwait Gulf Oil Company (KGOC), 143 in Kuwait Foreign Petroleum Exploration Company (KUFPEC), and 44 in Kuwait Integrated Petroleum Industries Company (KIPIC).
Sources also confirmed that KPC is working towards reducing the number of expatriate executives. Meanwhile, the Ministry of Health will deposit the excellent performance bonus to the bank accounts of deserving employees starting from Monday, reports Al-Anba daily quoting sources.
Sources disclosed the Financial Affairs Sector in the ministry is currently finalizing the list of employees eligible for the bonus in order to pay the bonus to everyone on the list before Eid Al-Fitr. Sources said the disbursement is in accordance with the regulations of the Civil Service Commission (CSC); indicating the bonus of doctors, consultants and directors is KD1,500; KD1,300 for pharmacists, technicians and supervisors; KD1,000 for the heads of departments and nurses; KD800 for executives and other employees; and KD400 for support and technical staff.
