Allah exalts the rank of whoever displays humbleness for His sake

LONG live our State.  Despite many inconveniences, they come and go; and from time to time, we see glimmers.  We ought to praise Almighty Allah for the blessing of being born in this land and for belonging to it.

Among the blessings that Allah bestowed upon us in Kuwait are the many members of the royal family, especially the leaders and those with high-ranking positions.

His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah was given the titles, ‘humanitarian leader’ and ‘leader of peace,’ by credible international bodies; as well as the loyal His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah who is the subject of my article.

I offered condolences to one of Kuwait’s precious families.  I found out His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad was already there to offer his condolences.  I greeted him and he responded with the best of greetings.

As usual, we briefly sat with members of the bereaved family.  After a little while, His Highness the Crown Prince stood up and left.  I was walking behind him as we were heading towards the door of the ‘diwaniya’.

His Highness stood by the door, waiting for his humble car.  His driver opened the door of the front passenger seat.  To my surprise, there was no security car or those with sirens or anything similar to a motorcade for His Highness.

I was amazed and baffled at the same time.  The second man in command was boarding a humble vehicle with only the driver, without anyone following them.

We do not see this scene in neighboring or even friendly countries.  For instance, in the Republic of Iraq, we see politicians without positions or titles moving around with a security convoy that exceeds 15 vehicles with sirens to clear the traffic.

This scene made me remember my apartment in one of the hills in Beirut, and how that area transformed overnight when one of its inhabitants was appointed as minister.

We used to encounter, as we walk, scores of security officers with military attires and plain clothes, let alone security vehicles going in and out of the area.  In fact, the surroundings of the building where the minister’s apartment was located was upgraded.

O people of Kuwait, by the grace of Almighty Allah, we are blessed due to the fact that our leaders believe, “Whoever humbles himself for the sake of the Almighty, Allah exalts his rank.”

We pray to our Almighty Allah to exalt the ranks of our leaders, our beloved country and every sincere child of this land.
