KUWAIT CITY, Nov 21: It is that time of the year again, where FAST family comes together for the 2016 FAST President’s Cup, an annual shooting competition that gave FAST VP Cesar Isidro the chance to show his best move and top all the shooters under the Standard Category together with Waleed Al-Mutawah who captured the top spot for the Professional Category on the 1st day of the annual tournament.

The tournament is made up of 2 individual competitions — Practical & Precision shooting with Professional and Standard class competing.

Safety is the main consideration at all times and safety violations results in immediate disqualification from the shooting event. Major violations may result in a total disqualification from the competition. Range Safety Officers and FAST Officers will supervise all competitions.

New shooters wishing to participate in the Practical shooting competition are required to successfully complete “dry” training with a FAST Officer before being permitted to participate in the competition with the final approval of the Range Officer.

Practical “dry” training will take place immediately after the press call and before competition shooting starts. For safety reasons new shooters who are late for “dry” training will not be allowed to participate in the competition that week.

For Precision Competition, shooters may participate in each competition as many times as they like (range time permitting). While for Practical Competition, a shooter can participate in a maximum of 2 attempts per week.

Second and further attempts will only take place after all “first shoots” are complete and are subject to the normal range times.

The registration fee is KD 1 for each attempt at each competition; the registration fee is in addition to the cost of ammunition. Competitors must register before they shoot, failure to do so will result in their score being void.

Since the competition is for standard division, all competitors are required to use the range provided gun or personal gun that will fall on production category (FAST President and Sr Chief Firearms Instructor will validate it). For Practical, a shooter may use any caliber, whereas in Precision it is only 9mm.

Practical Shooting Competition

The Practical Shooting Competition requires the competitor to move through a practical scenario and engage the targets as briefed. The competition will be scored in accordance with IPSC/FAST rules (Procedural 10, No Shoot Hit 10 and Miss 10) and the Range Officer will confirm all penalties and disqualifications.

There are three stages that refer to three scenarios that will run every Saturday from Nov 19 until Dec 3, and the awarding ceremony will be held on Dec 6. There will be a unique scenario each week (Stage), worth 100 points and competitors will be scored using Hit Factor as a reference and then derive the Stage Point.

There will be only 1 winner for each Stage (or Shooting Day) and the rest of the shooter will be ranked below the stage winner. For equal match within the shooters on its class; Professional will have 1 stage winner and 1 for Standard A/B. A shooter may wish to reshoot the stage as long range time permits.

After the end of the 3 stages, TOP 2 Stage points of a shooter taken from different stages will be added and will become his Match Point. The competitor who gets most match points wins. Therefore it is mandatory that a shooter participates at least in 2 practical stages in order to classify on the ranking and considered into the match.

In a very odd event of a tie in match results, the concerned competitors must shoot one more course of fire, nominated or created by the Tournament Directors, until the tie is broken. The result of a tiebreaker will only be used to determine the final placing of the affected competitors, and their original match points will remain unchanged.

The shooter can load and shoot as many rounds he wish (Comstock) where only 2 highest points a target will be considered. It is mandatory to use at least 2 magazines.
