KUWAIT CITY, Jan 25: MP Waleed Al-Tabtabaei has announced that MP Mohamed Al-Mutair joined him in his plan to grill HH the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al- Mubarak Al-Hamad Al- Sabah if the government does not cooperate in cancelling price hike decisions and addressing the citizenship issue.

Al-Mutair had earlier pointed out that increase in the prices of gasoline, electricity and water and reinstatement of citizenship are serious issues which the government must solve quickly. He said the prime minister is responsible for the government’s general policy; hence, the need to hold him accountable if such pressing issues remain unresolved.

Asked about the timing of submitting the grilling request, Al-Mutair believes this period is a good opportunity for the government to prove its seriousness in solving the abovementioned issues. “We will give them another chance after the national holidays, then we will adopt a clear and forthright stance,” he asserted.

In another development, MP Jamaan Al-Harbash has asked the deputy premier and interior minister if the State security has imposed restrictions on Kuwaitis because of political positions. If yes, he wants to know whether the Cabinet issued the directive or the Interior Ministry took this step solely. He inquired if these restrictions apply to the relatives of those who voiced objection to the government’s policy and those who adopted certain political views.

Meanwhile, MP Rakan Al-Nisf has forwarded queries to Information Minister and State Minister for Youth Affairs Sheikh Salman Al-Humoud Al- Sabah on women’s sports. While emphasizing the need to work hard for women to achieve their goals in this field, he inquired about the role of the Public Authority for Sports in developing women’s sports.
