Al-Ma’arab ‘holds off’ Al Meqrab for Amir Cup

KUWAIT CITY, March 14: The horse Al-Ma’arab from Al-Nashama Stable won the Amir’s Cup for the 2,400-meter race organized by the Hunting and Equestrian Club. The horse Al-Meqrab from Al-Nashama Stable came second and the horse Swares from Al- Osaimi Stable came third. On behalf of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmed Al-Jaber Al- Sabah, the Capital Governor ret. Lieutenant General Thabet Al-Muhanna presented the cup to the Chairman of Al-Nashama Stable Sheikh Ali Al- Hamoud.

Al-Muhanna praised the Amir’s endless support towards the sport of our ancestors in all six governorates of Kuwait. The godfather of equestrianism in Kuwait Sheikh Ali Al-Hamoud, Chairman of Supreme Horseracing Council Saleh Al-Humaidhi, General Director of the competition Sheikh Abdullah Al- Salman, Sheikh Nasser Fahd Al-Jaber and Mubarak Al-Hajri were among the audience.

In the rest of the rounds, the horse Abu Za’ar owned by Dawi Al-Otaibi won the cup for the 2,000-meter race, followed by the horse Humr Al-Ain owned by Awad Al-Daihani in second place and the horse Swar Al-Zahab owned by Hamad Al-Muhareb in third place.

The horse Bahees from Zamanan Stable won the Sheikh Fahd Jaber Cup for the 2,000 meter race for original Arabian horses.

The horse Nojoud owned by Meshal Al-Otaibi came second and the horse Dair Zaki came third.

The horse Al-Ajwad from Al-Nashama Stable won a 2,000-meter race followed by the horse Meias from Al- Fanar Stable in second place. The horse Tareq from Abu Shaiba Stable won the Cup of Al-Jazeera Real Estate Company in a 1,600-meter race for Class 3 horses. The horse Salmani from Al-Nashama Stable came second.

The horse Jawhar from Dasman Stable came first in a 1,600-meter race for locally-bred horses by finishing it within 1:35:04 minutes, winning a car sponsored by Hamad Nayef Al- Dabous. The horse Hayes from Dasman Stable came second followed by the horse Muza from Dasman Stable in third place, the horse Khabari from Dasman Stable in fourth place and the horse Safeeri from Al-Safeer Stable in fifth place. Sheikh Ali Al-Humoud, Saleh Al- Humaidhi and Sheikh Abdullah Al- Salman handed over the cup and the car keys to the Manager of Dasman Stable Yousef Al-Kandari.
