Al Kuwait crowned champs of HH Amir Cup – Kazma fall in final

His Highness the Amir Cup champions Al-Kuwait Football Club celebrate with officials and fans.

KUWAIT CITY, Feb 21: Al-Kuwait Football Club have been crowned champions of His Highness  Amir Soccer Cup for the 13th time in the history of the competition. The team did so by defeating their arch rivals Al-Kazma Football Club with a score of 4-2 in the final match played on Tuesday, Feb 21 inside Sheikh Jaber Al-Ahmad International Stadium.

His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah presented the cup to the team captain Hussein Hakim and distributed medals to all members of the team.

Al-Kazma players went home with silver medals, while the players of the third-placed Al-Qadsiya and Al-Tadhamoun clubs received bronze medals.

A Sierra Leonean professional player opened the harvest of goals for Al-Kuwait Sports Club with a fantastic goal in the eighth minute of the game. This opened chances for other goals scored by Feras Al-Khateb at 18th minute, Jumah Saeed at 46th minute and the last one at 58th minute by Fahad Al-Hajri. Goals of Al-Kazma Team were scored by Nasser Al-Faraj and Omar Al-Hubaitar at 33rd minute and 80th minute respectively.

His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah Tuesday congratulated chairman of Kuwait Football Club Abdulaziz Al-Marzouq after his team won His Highness the Amir’s football Cup for the 2016-17 season.

Kuwait won His Highness the Amir cup after beating Kazma SC 4-2 in the final that was held at Sheikh Jaber International Stadium.

His Highness the Amir commended the performance of the two teams and the high spirit shown by the players throughout the clash.

His Highness the Deputy Amir and Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah sent a cable to Al-Marzouq to congratulate him on the victory.

His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah sent a similar cable.

Earlier, his Highness Sheikh Nawaf was received upon his arrival at Sheikh Jaber International Stadium by Minister of Commerce and Industry and Acting Minister of State for Youth Khaled Al-Roudhan, Director General of the Public Authority for Sport Sheikh Ahmad Mansour Al-Sabah, chairman of the interim committee running Kuwait Football Association Fawaz Al-Hasawi, chairman of the interim committee running Kuwait Olympic Committee Sheikh Fahad Jaber Al-Ali Al-Sabah, and chairmen of the two clubs.

The final game was also attended by parliament speaker Marzouq Al-Ghanim, Sheikh Faisal Al-Saud Al-Sabah, His Highness Sheikh Nasser Mohammad Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Mubarak Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, ministers, senior state officials, and commanders of army, police, national guard and fire department.

His Highness the Deputy Amir and Crown Prince handed over the cup to Kuwait SC.
