Al Habtoor Group sponsors 12th Zayed Charity Marathon in NY – Proceeds to go to Healthy Kidney Foundation

DUBAI, UAE, March 21: Khalaf Ahmad Al Habtoor, Chairman of the Al Habtoor Group says the Al Habtoor Group has signed a contract to sponsor the 12th Sheikh Zayed Charity Marathon in New York. The details were unveiled at a press conference at the Al Habtoor Group head office on March 21, between the Al Habtoor Group and the marathon’s organising committee. Also present was Lt General Mohammad Halal Al Kaabi, head of the organizing committee; Colonel Mohammad Ali Amer, General Coordinator of Sheikh Zayed Charity Marathon, Khalaf Ahmad Al Habtoor; chairman of Al Habtoor Group, Mohammad Al Habtoor, Vice-Chairman & CEO, Al Habtoor Group; Abdul Salam Marzooqi, General Manager, Khalaf Ahmad Al Habtoor Foundation.

Chairman Al Habtoor said, “I am proud to announce that the Al Habtoor Group is the main sponsor of this global event. The New York Marathon is one of the biggest marathons in the world.”

More than 25,000 people participated in the 2015 New York marathon making it one of the top 10 marathons globally.

Chairman Al Habtoor said he would personally take part in this year’s marathon. “I will be proud to represent the UAE in the New York Marathon,” he said. “The late His Highness Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan was known for his love of sports, especially hunting falcons. Our sponsorship of the International Zayed Charity Marathon is in continuation of his legacy to assist others.”

The event will be held in Central Park, New York on May 14, 2016. The proceeds will go to Healthy Kidney Foundation, a specialized hospital for kidney research and treatment in the US.

Al Habtoor said, “The International Zayed Charity Marathon in New York has succeeded in laying the foundations of peace and love carried by the UAE to all the peoples of the world. It contributes to the consolidation of the principles and approach of direct openness to the world.”

General Mohammad Hilal Al Kaabi thanked AHG and Khalaf Al Habtoor for their generous support and participation in the New York event, and commended the lead role the Al Habtoor Group takes in various sporting events around the world.

The International Zayed Charity Marathon in New York was founded in 2005. The organizing committee announced last week that the registration for the International Zayed Charity Marathon in New York has started.
