Accounts of 215 persons closed

KUWAIT CITY, Dec 19: Official data shows 221 bank accounts were closed for 215 citizens and residents in Kuwait during the first 6 months of this year, for issuing dud cheques, worth about $31 million (9.4 million dinars), reports Al-Anba daily. According to official figures issued by the Central Bank of Kuwait, the number of checks issued without balance decreased and accounts were closed during the opening period reduced by 43.5%, about 482 checks, as their numbers reached during the period from January to June 2020 partly due to Corona – about 1,108 checks without balance, compared to 626 checks for the same period in 2021.

Likewise, the number of citizens and residents who issued checks without balance and closed their accounts decreased by 40% during the opening period compared to the period of closures during Corona, as the total number of customers whose accounts were closed during the period from January to June 2020 reached about 358 citizens and residents, compared to 215 citizens and residents for the period same as this year
