Cops in ‘drifting’

KUWAIT CITY, Jan 26: Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Sheikh Mohammad Al-Khalid has issued a disciplinary punitive action against two police officers, reports Al-Kuwaitiah daily quoting informed security sources close to the minister. The men have been moved to another department and 10 days salary has been cut for making stunts with their vehicles at an unidentified location. Their cars have been impounded. One officer was making the stunts and the other was filming the proceedings.

Officers attacked: Two military officers of Mubarak Al-Kabeer Rescue Department filed a case against two Kuwaiti citizens who attacked them physically in Mubarak Al-Kabeer area. According to a security source, the officers were patrolling Mubarak Al-Kabeer area when they stopped a vehicle with two occupants. While checking their civil IDs, securitymen noticed their disoriented state and questioned them. However, the suspects physically attacked the two officers and the latter immediately called for backup.

Fire engulfed a vehicle in Sabah Al-Salem area at 9:40am. No casualties were reported. According to a press statement issued by Kuwait Fire Service Directorate (KFSD), when the Control Room of KFSD received information about the vehicle on fire, firefighters rushed to the location and extinguished the fire within 15 minutes. Meanwhile, fire broke out in a vehicle after it collided with another on the road between Qurain and Mubarak Al-Kabeer areas.

When the Control Room of KFSD received information about the accident at 10:13am, firefighters rushed to the location and pulled out the individuals who were trapped inside the vehicles. They had to cut parts of the vehicle for the rescue purposes. One of the victims sustained injuries and was referred to the nearest hospital. The firefighters extinguished the fire.

The entire process took about 45 minutes. In addition, some individuals who were trapped inside a faulty lift were rescued without sustaining any injuries. When the Control Room of KFSD received information at 8:59 am about some individuals trapped inside an out-oforder lift, firefighters rushed to the location and rescued them.
