82 workers of fake companies blacklisted

KUWAIT CITY, Jan 12:Fake companies: Upon instructions from the Assistant Undersecretary for Nationality and Passports Affairs at the Ministry of Interior Major-General Sheikh Mazen Al-Jarrah Al-Sabah, personnel from the Financial and Administrative Services of the General Department for Residence Affairs Investigation launched a surprise inspection campaign in a number of commercial complexes to flush out fake companies, says a press release issued by the Ministry of Interior. The campaign resulted in identifying (15) fictitious companies sponsoring 82 workers. The workers have been blacklisted and the issue has been referred to the concerned authorities to take punitive measures against the offending companies.

Hunt for cheat: Police are looking for a professional cheat for duping more than one Kuwaiti by selling them a house belonging to his neighbor in the Sa’ad Al-Abdullah City, reports Al-Shahed daily. One of the victims in his complaint said he saw an advertisement for a house for sale and when he approached the man who had placed the advertisement he made a deal to buy the house and paid KD 5,000 advance. The man said when he next contacted the seller; he found the cell phone switched off. According to security sources the suspect has played the same game with other Kuwaitis.

‘Want to go UK’: Police at the Kuwait International Airport have arrested a bedoun who is believed to be in his 20s for attempting to board a flight to Britain although he did not carry a passport, reports Al-Rai daily. A security source said when the airport security officers were checking the hand baggage and passports of travelers, they saw a man heading towards the departure Gate No 2, who was chased and arrested. The source said the bedoun did not carry a passport or a ticket but had a bullet, the type that is used in a pistol, in his trouser pocket. The source added, the young man is fully aware of his actions, refused to answer questions and kept saying he wants to go to Britain. He has been handed over to the relevant authorities for interrogation.

Syrian arrested: A 33-year old Syrian, identified only as A.H., has been handed over to the State Security police for attempting to sneak into the Ministry of Defense headquarters, reports Al-Rai daily. A security source said a military patrol saw the young suspect parking his car outside the ministry compound, walking towards the main gate and attempting to sneak inside the ministry building.
