6 Shipping companies sealed for smuggling out subsidized foodstuff

KUWAIT CITY, Oct 14: The Ministry of Commerce and Industry closed 6 freight transport companies for shipping state subsidized foodstuffs. Legal procedures are being completed to transfer them to prosecution for their violations of regulations 117/2013 issued by law decree of 10/1979.
The inspection teams of MOCI visited the land, air and sea freight companies in various regions of Kuwait to check and ensure that there are no goods supported by the state after receiving a statement from the General Administration of Customs
MOCI has sealed 6 companies that were smuggling out subsidized foodstuff along with other shipments, they have been referred to complete the legal procedures of the competent authority.
The Ministry of Commerce warned shipping companies against shipping state-subsidized foodstuffs that are not allowed to be exported outside the country, stating that their shipment is against the law and places them under legal accountability. There are legally stipulated penalties for the perpetrators of violations, even imprisonment and revoking of the company’s license.
