Eleven new coronavirus cases found

KUWAIT CITY, March 16, (KUNA): Eleven new cases of the novel coronavirus (COVID- 19) were discovered in Kuwait, bringing the total number of infections to 123, said the Health Ministry Monday.

In a press conference, Health Ministry Spokesman Dr Abdullah Al-Sanad revealed that all newly announced cases were for Kuwaiti citizens; one returning from the US, one associated with traveling to Iran, four who came from the UK (plus three in contact), and one case coming from Qatar.

The last case is for an Egyptian female residing in Kuwait was discovered at Kuwait International Fair grounds. Out of the 123 in total, nine cases recovered and 114 are currently receiving treatment, he pointed out.

Minister of Health Sheikh Dr Bassel Al-Sabah announced Monday three patients suffering from the novel coronavirus recovered, bringing total number of those who overcame the disease to 12. In remarks to Kuwait News Agency (KUNA), Sheikh Bassel said “Analyses and laboratory X-ray tests proved that the three cases were cured of the virus.” The healed persons would be shifted to the recuperation ward of the hospital specialized for treating the COVID-19 patients, pending their discharge during the coming two days, he added

564 clear quarantine
The total number of those clearing quarantine for the coronavirus reached 564 individuals in Kuwait, while three new cases of recovery brings the number of those overcoming global-spreading disease to 12, said the Health Ministry Monday. In a press conference, the Ministry’s Spokesman Dr Abdullah Al-Sanad affirmed that the new promising data suggested that the measures that are carried out by Kuwait, in line with World Health Organization, were bearing fruit.

This does not mean that the fight is over, said Dr Al-Sanad who called on citizens and expatriates alike to continue staying at their homes and follow up on the Health Ministry’s directives and updates. He noted that the number of swipes and tests carried out so far had reached 9,981, adding that there were four patients still in the ICU with one stable case and three others considered to be critical.
