55 people caught, 389 vehicles seized, 31,349 citations issued

KUWAIT CITY, June 6: Traffic officers embarked on campaigns in all governorates of Kuwait from May 21-27, which led to the issuance of 31,349 citations for various violations. They also seized 389 vehicles, impounded 12 wanted vehicles and detained 55 people.

Meanwhile, General Department of Public Relations and Media Security affirmed that traffic officers are in control of the traffic flow across the country. The statement follows recent arrest and detention of six reckless motorists during an impromptu inspection campaign in Kabad area. The motorists had gathered at the location to perform stunts and betting, disrupting traffic flow and jeopardizing public safety.

Woman killed: A European woman died in a road accident after her vehicle overturned on Fahaheel Road, while her passenger sustained serious injuries and fractures. According to the police report, when the Operations Room of Ministry of Interior received reports about the accident, securitymen, paramedics and firefighters were immediately dispatched to the scene. Upon their arrival, firefighters pulled out the two individuals from the wreckage. However, the driver, who is a European woman, was declared dead. Her passenger who had sustained serious injuries and fractures was immediately rushed to Adan Hospital for medical attention. The corpse has been referred to the Forensics Department. Investigations are underway to determine the cause of the accident.
