KUWAIT CITY, April 20: Personnel from the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) have arrested three Kuwaiti owners of companies and their representatives for ‘trading’ in visas.

The source said the Ministry of the Interior, in the framework of analyzing and monitoring violators of residence law, saw 7 expatriates – Arabs and Asians – taking advantage of the amnesty offered by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior to leave the country in April and discovered the expatriates were employed by three different companies but did not renew their residence permit.

The source added, the expatriates who are quarantined in Kabad during interrogation admitted to paying 1,200 dinars each two years ago for obtaining a visa and that they failed to get a stable job.

They also said the sponsors of companies demanded 500 dinars to renew their residence permit and since they could not pay the money they became violators of residence law
