KUWAIT CITY, Dec 21: With instructions from the Director General of Investigations Major General Fahad Al-Dosari, the committee formed upon ministerial Decision No. 3218/2010 and ministerial Decision No. 3646/2012 destroyed a quantity of liquor in the presence of high ranking officials.

Major General Dosari stated 23,663 bottles of alcohol were destroyed in two days, indicating the team destroyed 9,091 bottles of the contraband on Tuesday and 14,572 bottles Wednesday. He commended efforts of the 15-member team that spent two months enumerating large quantities of liquor and opening parcels seized from suspects in different governorates.

Meanwhile, police have arrested two people, a bedoun and a Kuwaiti, for possessing drugs and sharp objects, reports Al-Rai daily. A security source said the Hawalli police suspected a motorist, ordered him to pull over, searched his car and seized cigarettes filled with hashish, sachets of meth, and knives.

On checking records, police discovered the bedoun is a former criminal records and was wanted by law in drug-related crimes while the Kuwaiti, who turned out to be ‘clean’ denied knowledge or drugs with the suspect. However, both men have been referred to the General Department for Drugs Control.
